All the Cretan sacrifices were prompted by an imperious sense of duty, and some of our helpers, as we remember them, seem like saints. This first publication in English of the official British report on the resistance in Crete, during the German occupation (1941-1945) is of obvious importance, based as it is on the individual reports from the field of those British officers sent to Crete with the purpose of encouraging and coordinating its activities initiated by the gallant Cretan people.
